The Holbrook-Palmer Recreation Park Foundation is a non-profit organization formed in 1968 whose mission is to raise funds for the capital improvement of Holbrook-Palmer Park in Atherton. Their purpose is to fund and sponsor activities to enhance use of the park by Atherton residents, as well as to fund and sponsor other charitable and educational activities to promote awareness of the park. The Foundation recognizes the Atherton Dames as a supporting organization working with the Foundation in achieving this goal.
The Atherton Dames assist in providing funding for the Holbrook-Palmer Park Foundation. They are comprised of energetic and focused ladies of all ages -- single, married, housewives, mothers, grandmothers and career women -- that love their neighborhood and specifically, the Holbrook-Palmer Park. They host numerous events at the Park to increase awareness of the Park and to raise funds for the Park's improvements. Among their many events are the Easter Egg Hunt, the Children's Christmas Tea and Fall Barbecue. The Dames have also organized many successful Heritage House Tours, Kitchen Tours, Luncheons, Fashion Shows and their famous Day at the Park.
The Holbrook-Palmer Park Foundation and the Atherton Dames interact with many Atherton organizations to foster community spirit and camaraderie in the Town.
The Foundation is concentrating on increasing its membership to include a wider and more diverse
group of residents and friends. They
encourage new ideas and more participation from many talented and fun individuals
to realize, at the Park, a truly friendly community center in the heart of
Atherton.
